Pirate Gold, Churchill Resources, Copper Giant Report Fresh Assays

Newfoundland has quietly turned into one of the busier corners of Canadian exploration this year, and this week two companies were drilling barely a province apart from each other, one chasing gold, the other chasing a polymetallic vein swarm nobody had mapped a year ago. A third story landed much further south, where a single drill hole in Colombia ran continuously mineralized for more than three-quarters of a kilometre.

Pirate Gold Intersects 30.6 g/t Gold Over 1.35 Metres, Identifies New Caribou Fault Zone at Moosehead

Pirate Gold Corp. (TSXV: YARR; OTCQB: YARRF) reported on August 28 that shallow drilling at the Eastern Trend of its Moosehead Zone, part of the Treasure Island Project in Newfoundland, returned 30.6 g/t gold over 1.35 metres, including 89.7 g/t gold over 0.40 metres, and that a separate hole at the Western Trend returned 4.25 g/t gold over 6.65 metres, including 40.8 g/t gold over 0.50 metres. The company also identified a new structure, the Caribou Fault Zone, roughly 150 metres west of and parallel to the Western Trend, where 8 of 19 shallow holes returned significant gold, including 2.88 g/t gold over 2.45 metres.

Moosehead’s fault and vein network now extends over roughly 1,500 metres of strike and to depths exceeding 200 metres. No formal resource estimate exists yet at Moosehead. Separately, the company disclosed it has engaged a market maker under a four-month automated trading agreement at CA$7,500 per month starting August 28, a services arrangement rather than compensation for coverage or promotion, but worth noting as a disclosed cost the company is now carrying. Pirate Gold’s market capitalization sits near CA$90 million.

Churchill Resources Hits 19.23% Antimony and a New Copper-Silver Prospect in Newfoundland

Churchill Resources Inc. (TSXV: CRI) reported on August 28 final assay results from its Spring 2026 drill and trench program at the Black Raven Project in central Newfoundland, with hole FC26-34 at the Frost Cove North prospect returning a project-best 19.23% antimony and 0.73 g/t gold over 1.40 metres, including 56.20% antimony over 0.47 metres. At a separate target, Pomley Cove Pond, hole PC26-06 intersected a newly identified copper-silver-gold prospect grading 0.78% copper, 61.2 g/t silver, and 0.23 g/t gold over 6.22 metres, including a higher-grade core of 1.47% copper, 120 g/t silver, and 0.42 g/t gold over 2.66 metres.

The 23-hole, 4,267-metre spring program was split between expanding the newly discovered Pomley Cove Pond vein swarm and delineating the Frost Cove North antimony-gold prospect, which the company has now drilled over 500 metres of strike. Reported lengths are core and channel measurements, not true widths. No resource estimate exists at Black Raven; a fall 2026 program is planned to follow up the new copper-silver-gold prospect with trenching and drilling. Churchill Resources is a micro-cap, with a market capitalization in the tens of millions of Canadian dollars and the volatility that comes with that size.

Copper Giant Resources Drills 771 Metres of Continuous Mineralization at Mocoa, Colombia

Copper Giant Resources Corp. (TSXV: CGNT; OTCQB: LBCMF; FSE: 29H0) reported on August 27 that infill hole MD-070 at its Mocoa copper-molybdenum porphyry project in Putumayo, Colombia intersected 771 metres of continuous mineralization grading 0.54% copper equivalent, including a higher-grade core of 102 metres at 0.87% copper equivalent. A companion hole, MD-068, drilled beneath vertical holes from Colombia’s former state geological agency, returned 157 metres at 0.69% copper equivalent from 145 metres depth and a separate deeper zone of 154 metres at 0.54% copper equivalent from 526 metres.

Mocoa already carries an Inferred resource of 1.12 billion tonnes grading 0.51% copper equivalent, so this drilling is infill work reproducing and extending an existing resource model rather than a new discovery. Both holes were drilled directionally off a single pad, which the company says has now produced close to 6,000 metres of drilling in three directions, reducing the need to relocate the rig in steep terrain. A Preliminary Economic Assessment remains on track for the fourth quarter of 2026. A separate zone at the project, La Estrella, has 2,170 metres drilled with assays still pending.

A fall 2026 program is planned to follow up the new copper-silver-gold prospect discovered in hole PC26-06 with additional trenching and drilling.

When is Copper Giant Resources’ Mocoa PEA expected?

The company says a Preliminary Economic Assessment remains on track for the fourth quarter of 2026, with assays still pending from a separate zone, La Estrella, where 2,170 metres have already been drilled.

Do any of these three companies have a resource estimate yet?
