BitFuFu Warns Its 80 MW Ethiopia Mining Deal May Not Close

About 13,700 BitFuFu mining machines sit at an Ethiopian site whose owner is in a payment fight with its power supplier. The supplier set a ten-day deadline on September 28 and threatened to take the site’s collateralized equipment. Bitcoin briefly slipped below $80,000 on Thursday, its first time there in almost a month. Europe picked the same week to put USDC under its banking regulator’s direct watch.

BitFuFu Flags Ethiopia Deal Risk, Launches BTC Hashrate Token

BitFuFu Inc. (Nasdaq: FUFU) disclosed on October 13 that its planned purchase of an 80 MW Bitcoin mining facility in Ethiopia may not close. The target company is in a contract dispute with its electricity supplier and, as of the release, had not paid the disputed amount.

BitFuFu has $4.1 million already paid to the sellers and roughly 13,700 Antminer S19-series machines on site, carrying a $1.74 million net book value. The deal still hinges on unmet closing conditions, including asset consolidation at the target, Ethiopian government filings, and no material adverse change. BitFuFu now sees a material risk those conditions fail. It is weighing termination, arbitration against the sellers, and recovery of both the cash and the machines.

Management called the incremental impact minimal. The outcome, by the company’s own wording, is uncertain.

September itself was steady: 167 BTC mined, holdings up to 1,388 BTC, total hashrate under management down to 19.4 EH/s from 20.6 EH/s.

Two days later, BitFuFu and Hong Kong platform Finloop launched HASH, a tokenized note paying BTC-denominated returns from mining output. It is open only to eligible investors and is not registered under the US Securities Act, so US persons are excluded outside Regulation S or another exemption. FUFU closed at $1.34 on October 13, down about 49% this year.

Impauer Technologies Launches PauerOne Wallet, Revenue Still Ahead

Impauer Technologies Inc. (CSE: IMPR; OTCQB: IMPTF) put PauerOne Wallet V1 on the market on October 15, live on Android and the web. The iOS app and browser extensions are still waiting on Apple and extension-store approval.

The wallet is non-custodial (users hold their own private keys; Impauer never controls the assets). It covers Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and other networks, with peer-to-peer cross-chain swaps and sign-in through Google or Apple accounts using key-sharding.

No revenue yet. Core features are free, and paid features are slated for later versions with no dates or pricing given. No user numbers were disclosed.

Until last month the company traded as Spirit Blockchain Capital, before a September name change.

EBA Names USDC the EU’s First ‘Significant’ E-Money Token

The European Banking Authority classified USDC as a significant e-money token on October 14, the first of 45 notified in the EU to get the label. An e-money token is a stablecoin pegged to a single official currency, as defined under MiCA, the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation.

From November 12, the EBA directly supervises USDC’s own funds, reserve assets, liquidity, and recovery and redemption plans. France’s ACPR keeps governance, fit-and-proper reviews, outsourcing and conflicts of interest. The EBA also signed a memorandum of understanding with the New York State Department of Financial Services, which oversees USDC’s US issuer.

The label is not permanent. The EBA re-checks it every year.

FUFU, IMPR, USDC Under MiCA: Forward-Looking FAQ

If BitFuFu walks away from the Ethiopia deal, does it get the $4.1 million and 13,700 machines back?

Not guaranteed. Termination, arbitration and recovery of the cash and machines are options BitFuFu says it is evaluating, and the company describes the final outcome as uncertain.

When can iPhone users download PauerOne, and when does Impauer start charging?

Neither has a date. iOS and browser extensions are pending store approval, and Impauer has not priced or scheduled its planned paid features.

What moves to the EBA on November 12, and what stays with France’s ACPR?

Supervision of USDC’s own funds, reserves, liquidity and redemption plans moves to the EBA. Governance, fit-and-proper checks, outsourcing and conflicts of interest stay with the ACPR.
