RenovoRx spent August checking boxes most microcap biotechs take years to check. A pivotal trial finished enrolling. Quarterly revenue kept climbing. A Nasdaq compliance problem got resolved. By month’s end, the stock was sitting at a 52-week high.
RenovoRx Hits 52-Week High as Revenue Growth and Trial Enrollment Both Deliver
RenovoRx (Nasdaq: RNXT) shares rose about 12% on August 28, touching a 52-week high of $1.68, extending a rally built over several weeks rather than a single announcement. The company reported record second-quarter revenue of $909,000, up 61% sequentially, and raised its full-year revenue guidance to $3.75 million-$4.25 million from $3 million-$4 million.
That revenue comes from RenovoCath, an FDA-cleared device the company sells to cancer centers for targeted intra-arterial chemotherapy delivery. Unlike most clinical-stage biotechs this section covers, RenovoRx already has a commercial product generating real sales, even as its lead application for that device remains in a pivotal trial.
That trial, Phase 3 TIGeR-PaC, tests RenovoCath-delivered gemcitabine against standard intravenous chemotherapy in locally advanced pancreatic cancer. It reached full enrollment in early August after randomizing at least 114 patients, with topline data expected in the second half of 2027. A separate pharmacokinetic sub-study published August 21 found intra-arterial delivery kept about 51% of the drug concentrated locally rather than entering systemic circulation, one mechanism the company points to for its lower-toxicity pitch.
The company also cleared a Nasdaq listing problem in the same stretch, regaining compliance with the exchange’s minimum bid price requirement on August 20 after trading below $1 for an extended period. An Ascendiant analyst raised a price target on the stock to $14.50 from $14 on August 28, implying substantial expected upside from current levels.
RenovoRx still lost money in the quarter. Revenue in the low seven figures does not yet cover the cost of running a public biotech, and the company continues to burn cash funding both its commercial rollout and the pivotal trial.
Biotech Sector Backdrop: A Rally Still Running Into Late Summer
RenovoRx’s rally happened during a broader run for the sector. The SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (XBI) was up roughly 36% year-to-date and about 85% over the trailing twelve months as of late August, a run built on a string of drug approvals, positive trial readouts, and steady M&A activity across the industry. The last full week of August saw major US indexes finish only modestly higher, with strong AI-related earnings offsetting broader macro concerns.
None of that macro backdrop explains RenovoRx’s specific numbers. A name posting real revenue growth and a completed trial enrollment tends to draw more attention, and a bigger stock reaction, when the sector around it is already running hot.
RNXT: Forward-Looking FAQ
No. The company remains unprofitable, and its current commercial revenue in the low millions does not cover the combined cost of running the TIGeR-PaC trial and its commercial operations. Further financing remains likely before the trial reads out.
Not until the second half of 2027 at the earliest. Full enrollment only means patient recruitment is done. The trial’s statistical design still requires enough events to accumulate before a final analysis, and topline data is not expected until then.
