Bitfarms Appoints Edie Hofmeister Chair, Eyes U.S. Growth

Bitfarms (NASDAQ/TSX: BITF) has named Edie Hofmeister as Chair of the Board. Brian Howlett steps down from the Chair role but remains on the Board as an Independent Director. The timing makes sense. The company is planning to redomicile to the U.S., and Hofmeister’s experience with U.S. corporate law and public markets should help.

Who is Edie Hofmeister
Hofmeister joined Bitfarms’ Board in late 2022 and has chaired the Governance and ESG committees since then. She has over 20 years of experience, including IPOs, NASDAQ and NYSE listings, large acquisitions, and complex debt deals. At Tahoe Resources she helped take the company from a start-up to a mid-cap producer across the Americas. In other words, she has the kind of background that matters when a company is going through big changes.

What This Means for Bitfarms
CEO Ben Gagnon thanked Howlett and emphasized that this transition is about governance and strategic growth. Hofmeister has said she will focus on strengthening governance while supporting Bitfarms’ HPC and AI infrastructure growth. The redomiciliation is expected to give Bitfarms better access to U.S. capital, more institutional investors, and potentially inclusion in stock indices.

The Company’s Position
Bitfarms has a 2.1 GW North American energy portfolio, which includes energized capacity, projects under development, and pipeline capacity. The portfolio is concentrated in key data center locations with good access to power and fiber. This shows that Bitfarms is more than a crypto play. The HPC and AI ambitions could be a quieter growth story worth watching.

Investor Takeaway
This change in leadership is not an overnight operational shift, but it does signal that Bitfarms is serious about expanding into the U.S. Hofmeister brings a steady hand to the Board at a time when governance and market access will be important. Investors should watch for signs of new U.S. partnerships, capital raises, or infrastructure announcements.
