Goliath, Selkirk Copper, Westhaven Gold Report Fresh Assays

Visible gold to the naked eye is rare enough in a drill core that companies usually lead with it. This week one company had it running through more than 35 metres of continuous mineralization, not a single flash in an otherwise ordinary hole. Two copper-and-gold projects further north and further west had their own strong weeks too, one edging toward an actual mine restart, the other digging deeper below a mine plan that already exists on paper.

Goliath Resources Reports 7.38 g/t Gold Equivalent Over 35.7 Metres, Including 19.51 g/t Over 8.32 Metres, at Surebet

Goliath Resources Limited (TSX-V: GOT; OTCQX: GOTRF; FSE: B4IF) reported on August 21 that drill hole GD-26-436 at the Surebet Discovery on its Golddigger Property in the Golden Triangle, B.C. returned 7.38 g/t gold equivalent over 35.7 metres near surface, including a higher-grade core of 19.51 g/t gold equivalent over 8.32 metres. The company says the entire 35.7-metre interval shows veining, alteration, and anomalous gold throughout its length, with several occurrences of visible gold observed in the core.

Surebet remains open for expansion in multiple directions, and Goliath has continued reporting strong assays from the zone through most of this year. No formal resource estimate exists yet for Surebet. The company’s market capitalization sits in the range of roughly CA$230 to CA$280 million depending on the day, comfortably under this publication’s small-cap threshold but a reminder that Goliath is no longer the smallest name in the Golden Triangle.

Selkirk Copper Intersects 13.12% Copper Equivalent at Minto North, Yukon

Selkirk Copper Mines Inc. (TSXV: SCMI; FSE: IO20; OTCQX: SKRKF) reported on August 20 additional Phase 2 drill results from its Minto Mine in Yukon, with infill hole 26SCM190 returning 6.01% copper, 8.77 g/t gold, and 36.6 g/t silver, or 13.12% copper equivalent, over 1.93 metres, contained within a broader 33-metre interval grading 1.49% copper equivalent. A step-out hole, 26SCM205, returned 3.43% copper, 0.36 g/t gold, and 47 g/t silver over 3.7 metres, and the company says it identified new mineralization beyond a previously interpreted fault at Minto North.

Minto is a past-producing mine, and this drilling is aimed squarely at a restart, with a Preliminary Economic Assessment targeted for the third quarter of 2026 and a 2026 Mineral Resource Estimate already establishing a Measured and Indicated resource of 47.8 million tonnes, a 280% increase in tonnage over the prior estimate. Selkirk has now completed roughly 45,300 of a planned 50,000 metres in its Phase 2 program, with drilling expected to continue into late September.

Westhaven Gold Extends High-Grade Zone Below Its Own Mine Plan at Shovelnose, B.C.

Westhaven Gold Corp. (TSX-V: WHN; OTCQB: WTHVF; FSE: 1W5) reported on August 20 the fifth batch of assay results from its 35,000-metre resource infill program at the South Zone deposit of its Shovelnose property in southern British Columbia, with hole SNR26-117 returning 10.04 metres at 12.18 g/t gold and 103 g/t silver, extending mineralization below the deepest mining stopes proposed in the company’s own 2025 preliminary economic assessment. A second hole, SNR26-110, returned 37.34 metres at 6.24 g/t gold and 55 g/t silver at the deposit’s southeastern margin.

The infill program is more than three-quarters complete, with four rigs active, and results are intended to support an updated resource estimate and a prefeasibility study targeted for the second half of 2027. The drilling is funded under a strategic earn-in agreement with Dundee Corporation, which can earn up to a 60% interest in Westhaven’s four Spences Bridge Gold Belt properties through up to CDN$85 million in staged project expenditures. Westhaven’s market capitalization is the smallest of the three companies covered this week, in the range of CA$70 to CA$100 million.
