Strategic Exploration Update
Copper Intelligence announced highly encouraging assay results from its recent channel sampling program at the Butembo Copper/Gold project in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. The program, conducted across several pits, identified multiple zones of significant copper mineralization, with several samples returning exceptional high-grade values.
Sampling Program and Results
The channel sampling program was carried out across pits PT9, NP03, PT14, PT16, and PT15. Samples were collected using industry-standard practices and analyzed by an accredited laboratory. Mineralization was primarily found in mica schist layers, with copper oxides including malachite and bornite.
Key highlights include:
- 1.50m at 12.9% Cu from pit PT16 at 1.00m depth, including 0.50m at 20.3% Cu from 2.00m and 1.00m at 9.2% Cu from 1.00m.
- 2.60m at 10.8% Cu from pit PT15 at 2.00m depth, including 0.75m at 24.9% Cu from 2.75m and 0.55m at 8.2% Cu from 4.05m.
- 1.00m at 1.3% Cu from pit PT9 at 2.00m depth.
These results confirm copper mineralization from about 1m below surface, with pit bottoms still within mineralized schist. Exploration is expected to penetrate into a higher-grade sulphide zone below the oxides.
Geological Context
The delineated zone covers approximately 400 to 500 meters along strike to a depth of about 4.5m. The presence of high-grade copper in channel samples provides strong evidence of significant mineralization potential. The company’s exploration model has been validated, advancing its understanding of the Butembo project.
Next Steps in Exploration
Copper Intelligence plans to integrate this data into the next phase of exploration, which will likely include detailed mapping and drilling to define the extent and continuity of high-grade zones. The company is focused on building a clearer picture of the resource potential and moving toward development.
Investment Perspective
For investors, these exceptional grades highlight the potential of the Butembo project as a high-impact exploration play. Intercepts of 20.3% and 24.9% Cu are rare and underscore the upside in early-stage projects. While risks remain, including financing and operational challenges, the leverage to copper prices is significant. With industrial demand for copper tied to electrification and renewable energy, discoveries of this quality can translate into substantial long-term value.
Conclusion
Copper Intelligence’s channel sampling results mark a major step forward in its exploration program. The Butembo project is emerging as a promising high-grade copper opportunity, with further drilling expected to unlock additional upside.
