Multi-Year Partnership for U.S. Lithium-Ion Energy Storage
LG Energy Solution Vertech and Qcells have teamed up for a long-term partnership to deliver 5GWh of lithium-ion energy storage across utility-scale projects in the United States. The agreement includes full lifecycle support from LG Energy Solution Vertech and covers projects scheduled from 2028 through 2030. This expands on a 2024 agreement in which Qcells secured 4.8 GWh of battery energy storage projects from LG Energy Solution Vertech.
Supporting U.S. Manufacturing and Domestic Content
All energy storage systems will meet U.S. domestic content standards. LG Energy Solution produces its batteries in Michigan, and Qcells manufactures its solar panels in Georgia. Using American-made components strengthens local supply chains, supports domestic jobs, improves grid reliability, and reduces exposure to international trade risks. These advantages make the projects particularly attractive for investors focused on sustainable energy infrastructure.
Why This Partnership Matters
Utility-scale energy storage is becoming essential as more renewable energy comes online. By pairing solar and storage, these projects provide consistent, reliable power. This collaboration gives both companies a strong position in a growing market and offers investors a clear opportunity for long-term growth.
Expanding Solar and Battery Production in the United States
Qcells operates the largest solar panel manufacturing facility of its kind in Dalton, Georgia, and is building a second integrated factory in Cartersville. Once both facilities are fully operational, combined production will reach 8.4 gigawatts annually. That is enough to power more than 1.3 million homes and represents one of the largest solar manufacturing investments in United States history.
LG Energy Solution is producing 16.5 gigawatt hours of battery energy storage cells in Holland, Michigan, and plans to expand production to 50 gigawatt hours across North America by the end of 2026. This growing capacity supports the increasing demand for reliable, grid-scale energy storage.
Leadership Insights
Chris Hodrick, CEO of Qcells EPC, said, “Working with LG Energy Solution shows how energy development and U.S. manufacturing can go hand in hand. Together, we are creating jobs, building stronger supply chains, and delivering reliable, affordable power to communities across the country.”
Jaehong Park, CEO and President of LG Energy Solution Vertech, added, “Our long-term partnership with Qcells marks an exciting next phase. We are focused on supporting these projects throughout their life cycles and look forward to seeing the positive impact on the energy grid.”
Technology Highlights: Containerized Lithium-Ion Batteries
These projects use LG Energy Solution’s containerized lithium-ion batteries with LFP cells, all manufactured in the United States. This design provides reliability, scalability, and efficiency for large-scale solar and storage projects.
Investment Outlook
This partnership is a strong signal for investors. By combining American-made batteries and solar panels, LG Energy Solution Vertech and Qcells are helping drive the clean energy transition while strengthening domestic supply chains and creating jobs. These projects are well-positioned to deliver long-term growth and reliable returns in the growing utility-scale energy market.
