Reju, the textile‑to‑textile regeneration company owned by Technip Energies, has chosen Lacq in the Pyrénées‑Atlantiques as the site for its first French Regeneration Hub. The facility will sit on the Induslacq industrial platform and is designed to transform post‑consumer textiles into high‑quality recycled polyester.
Every year, more than 120 million tons of textiles are discarded, and only a tiny fraction are recycled into new garments. Most end up in landfills or incinerators. Reju wants to flip that script by using its proprietary depolymerization technology to regenerate textile waste into rBHET, which can then be repolymerized into new polyester.
Why France Matters
This project strengthens France’s role as a leader in circular, low‑carbon industrial innovation. It’s expected to create 80 direct jobs and more than 300 indirect ones. Patrik Frisk, Reju’s CEO, called the hub “a strategy to industrialize a circular post‑consumer textile‑to‑textile model,” pointing to France’s ambitious circular‑economy agenda as the perfect backdrop.
Chemparc, the local development agency, welcomed the decision, saying it highlights the attractiveness of the Lacq industrial basin and marks another step toward building a low‑carbon circular economy in the region.
Building a Network of Hubs
This French hub joins Reju’s growing network. They already have Regeneration Hub Zero in Frankfurt, a site selected in Chemelot in the Netherlands, and a U.S. hub planned for Eastman Business Park in Rochester, New York. The idea is to build scalable infrastructure across Europe and beyond, enabling textile‑to‑textile traceability and closing the loop on fiber use.
Investment Perspective
For investors, this site selection is more than just another plant announcement. It signals Reju’s intent to anchor itself in Europe’s circular economy push, backed by Technip Energies’ engineering muscle and IBM‑originated technology. With textile waste a massive global problem and recycling rates still painfully low, Reju is positioning itself as a key player in turning waste into value. The job creation and alignment with France’s industrial strategy add another layer of credibility.
